FAQs

What is Coaching?

Coaching at Vineyard Northwest is defined as “a way to come alongside people to help them sort out what God wants them to do so they can do it.” (Logan & DeVires, 2014, p. 3). This ministry and process fits well with the strategy to establish a strong community of growing disciples at Vineyard Northwest. The Barnabas Coach Ministry will enhance and support this process and will help develop leaders in any of our ministry areas.

What is the training process?

To become a Barnabas Coach, trainees will complete a 10 week course to assimilate the following skills through teaching, activations and practice, or a three tiered approach:

Training Outcome

• Learn and practice effective listening skills, including asking “powerful questions” • Learn what coaching is and what it is not and when it is appropriate • Learn to establish a coaching relationship

• Learn and practice a coaching process using the online tool mycoachlog • Experience being coached first hand

• Practice coaching process and skills in triads and fishbowl exercise in class • Coaching experience by coaching someone else under supervision!
